New Yorkers for Parks
Maura Lout is the Director of Operations at New Yorkers for Parks, where she leads the organization's strategic programmatic development; oversees research and communications activities; and manages all financial, human resources and governance matters. Before becoming Director of Operations, Ms. Lout served as Research Director. In this capacity she developed the Report Card on Parks program, which was honored by the Brookings Institution in 2005 as an outstanding community indicators project.
Ms. Lout has extensive experience in nonprofit management, public policy, natural resources conservation and the urban environment. She has worked as a Research Associate in the Anthropology Department at Harvard University, as a data analyst for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, as a field biologist for the National Park Service and as a volunteer at an urban farm in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
She is a graduate of University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she received her Bachelors Degree in Wildlife Biology. In addition, she has studied wildlife and community management strategies in Kenya. Ms. Lout also holds a Masters in Non-Profit Management from the Robert J. Milano Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy at the New School University. She lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn and regularly takes advantage of its glorious green spaces, including and especially Prospect Park.
