"The opportunity to write something not for a funder, not a proposal, not an “outcome-driven” success story, not focused on the numbers, not a new formula for crunching the numbers: it was delicious. It felt like sanity. Like my mind returning to my mind."
Bridget Hughes (2007 - 2008)
Director of Youth Services
LGBT Community Center
Fellows are expected to devote three days per week (Monday through Friday) to their work on campus pursuing studies that they have elected. While many Fellows continue to work during their Revson year, the Fellowship requires Fellows to significantly reduce their professional commitments so as to meet these requirements.
Each Fellow is required to create a program of study with at least two concrete activities each semester: these can be a combination of courses, independent study with faculty, or participation in structured colloquia, workshops, and/or seminars.
All Fellows attend a weekly lunch seminar and a monthly dinner. Fellows are also expected to attend annual events such as the Holiday Party, Common Meal, and Spring Alumni Dinner. The Fellowship requires steady attendance at Revson seminars and events as well as courses. More than two absences per semester is considered excessive and in non-compliance with the Fellowship.
Lastly, Fellows are asked to write a final account of their experiences. These reflections are developed over the course of the year during the Writing Workshop and are due in April.
