"In the Revson program and in these classes, I’ve had the opportunity to think about my work, how I as a “medium” shape the message, and learn new ways to analyze these things and better express them in new ways to people I’ve never met before."
Noah Budnick (2008 - 2009)

In addition to their individual study programs, Fellows meet collectively once a week during the fall and spring semesters. The seminars provide an opportunity for Fellows to discuss ideas, present their ongoing work, and invite faculty members to present or lead discussions of selected readings. Local and national leaders in public, corporate, non-profit, and civic life, as well as Columbia faculty, are invited to discuss subjects of broad interest to the Fellows. Revson alumni frequently attend seminar meetings, sharing their own work and building bridges across cohorts.
Fellows also gather once a month for a dinner seminar, alumni event, or field trip.
Three seminar meetings each semester are devoted to a writing workshop, which is directed by a writing instructor and uniquely created to address the interests of the cohort and provide sustained focus on critical thinking, writing, and expression. Fellows are encouraged to workshop pieces they have written during the workshop and individually with the writing instructor. The writing workshop also provides an opportunity for Fellows to reflect individually and collectively on their Revson experience. Reflective exercises throughout the year culminate in the writing and revision of a reflective essay that Fellows are expected to submit at the end of their Revson year.
Midway through each semester, current Fellows and alumni gather for dinner at an off-campus restaurant for a “Common Meal”. There are no guest speakers or agendas for common meals; they are an opportunity for open dialogue, exchange of ideas, and building cross-cohort connections.
The Revson Fellowship hosts a holiday party in December for current Fellows, alumni, and Columbia faculty and staff. Fellows are encouraged to invite the professors they are working with to attend. The event provides an opportunity for Fellows to meet a significant portion of the Revson alumni community.
Each spring, newly selected Fellows, current Fellows, and alumni gather at the Alumni Dinner, which offers a chance for Fellows to bring their interests to the larger group. The event program typically centers on major urban issues—such as health care, criminal justice, and economic development—and features invited speakers. During the event, newly selected Fellows are inducted into the Revson community and current Fellows are presented with certificates celebrating the culmination of their Revson year.
